10 weird things I do for growth hormone and health

By Mark Leigh
  1. I buy fat free cottage cheese and then add 3 tablespoons of olive oil to it.  Similarly instead of buying tomato sauce which usually has soybean oil as an ingredient, I buy tomato paste and make my own tomato sauce by adding olive oil; I use my home-made tomato sauce as a condiment with chicken, turkey, and beef.
  2. I often do exercise in a circuit which causes significant lactic acid in my muscles which stimulates the release of growth hormone, but hopefully without causing as much muscle breakdown as 3 straight sets of an exercise.
  3. I put raw egg yolks in my yogurt smoothies.  I barely heat the egg whites.  For more info, see my smoothie post.
  4. I cook chicken, ground turkey, fish, and ground beef for about 2 hours at 225 degrees to minimize AGE’s and get more value from protein and fats. (For some reason, the dark meat of chicken doesn’t seem to cook well at low temperature.)
  5. I like to become hungry before eating because ghrelin hormone is released from the stomach and then stimulates the release of growth hormone.  Sometimes I increase the intensity of hunger by eating just a few bites of food when I am hungry and then wait 30 minutes before eating again.  David left a comment yesterday on a new research involving Ghrelin hormone.
  6. I often try to remember funny scenes from movies to release growth hormone.  I sense a lightening of mood and physiology just picturing funny things.
  7. Every day I aim to be as relaxed and carefree as I was on my most relaxing, carefree vacation by remembering how it felt on vacation.
  8. I usually end my hot showers with about 3 minutes of a cold shower for the purposes of stimulating endogenous antioxidants, “being tough in a comfy world”, and exhilaration.  My well water is 61 degrees.
  9. I try to balance energy in my meridian system for allergy symptoms and for stress symptoms.
  10. I eat a can of sardines about 2 or 3 times per week for the protein and for about 1.5 grams of Omega 3 oil.  Sardines are young fish and have very low levels of mercury.  I prefer King Oscar “lightly smoked kipper snacks” and King Oscar “finest brisling sardines in olive oil”.  I also take fish oil capsules on days that I don’t eat sardines.

Today after warming up for about 4 minutes, I did 14 minutes of anaerobic exercise.  I ran four 20-second sprints with rest intervals of 100 seconds.  Then I interspersed jogging with 2 sets of “jump tucks” and 2 sets of skipping for height.

Then I felt great as I listened to music. About an hour after exercising, I had 12 grams of whey isolate as post-exercise protein and to increase the intensity of hunger as described in #6 above.
